We’re hiring!

Are you really committed to addressing climate change? Do you already know a lot about this crisis and our options for limiting its impacts? Are you interested in helping to build up a non-partisan organization that is laser-focused on getting to zero emissions?  We have a few positions available.

Seeking a part-time organizer

We are looking to hire an organizer part-time to help spread our “all of the above” message and help us build broader support across the climate movement. Our goal is to build up membership within the Climate Coalition and strengthen our education and advocacy activities. We need to get climate advocates to unify and agree to focus on getting to zero emissions using all types of clean energy—including nuclear energy—as advocated by Dr. James Hansen, Dr. Ken Caldeira and many, many others.  And no, we are not the same as or connected to the UK-based Climate Coalition (at: https://www.theclimatecoalition.org/).

While this opening is starting out as a part-time position for a well-qualified person, we hope that, with your highly effective advocacy and help, we can build this into a full-time job. We are looking for someone who is already knowledgeable about climate change actively working to address the crisis in their personal and/or professional life—if voluntarily. You need to be familiar with clean energy technologies, including nuclear power, already have a pretty good idea of the magnitude of the challenge the world faces converting from dirty to clean energy and already support the premise that nuclear is part of the solution and we cannot afford not to have all guns blazing against emissions.

The ideal candidate is a graduate student working towards an advanced degree in a related area who is experienced with social media and well-connected within scientific, engineering, clean energy and/or environmental communities, who is motivated and self-managing and who has between 5 and 15 spare hours a week to devote to creative outreach efforts. You should have a command of the scientific understandings about climate change, excellent writing skills, a high attention to detail and be good at explaining complicated concepts in clear language! You also know how to get attention to issues using social media.

While there is a slight preference for someone located in the San Francisco Bay Area, we are accepting applications from across the U.S. Please submit your resume with a cover letter that describes your climate interest, activities (provide any relevant twitter, FB, Instagram or other social media accounts) and other compelling qualifications to theclimatecoalition@gmail.com.

Seeking to add coalition members to our working team

We are building our organizational capacity and welcoming those who have signed up as a member to join our working team to assist us in a variety of ways.  Even if you have a full-time job, if you have a few minutes in the day or a few hours in a week to help us advocate for an “all of the above” approach to clean energy, we can use you.  We are working hard to increase membership in our coalition by the end of the year, so we can get the word out to the press and to our political leaders that we must stop bickering and focus solely on achieving zero emissions as soon as humanly possible.  Whether or not you are a social media warrior, we could use your help to increase our outreach efforts.

We hope you noticed that we are also building a complete knowledge base about this pressing issue on our website.  We are proud of what we have achieved but we also have a lot of work to do!  We have just upgraded our site to a new template and there is still “conversion” work to be done.  Not all of our “Things to Know” information pages are even fully fleshed out.  If you have a particular type of expertise to share, we welcome your help as an author or as an owner of one or more of our TtK information pages.  We welcome your support, whether or not you are skilled at WordPress because we have a big job writing and maintaining each of these pages the rate that things are happening. If you are willing to learn, we are willing to teach you how to write and edit in WordPress!  Coalition members willing to help out can write to us at theclimatecoalition@gmail.com, post a message on our Facebook page or tweet to us @climatecoaliton how you might like to support us.
